Both are CNCF projects. A common rule of thumb:
A) Linkerd: simpler, lighter (Rust micro-proxy), opinionated, fast
to adopt. Istio: more features (rich routing, WASM extensions),
more configuration surface, heavier footprint.
B) Linkerd is enterprise; Istio is hobbyist.
C) Istio is written in Go, Linkerd in PHP.
